Overview
The Plant Maintenance is responsible for installation, inspection, repairs, and maintains machinery and assures electrical and mechanical equipment are in proper working order.
Responsibilities
- Performs mechanical taks related to installation, repair, and maintenance of mechnical, electrical and related equipment.
- Assures that equipment is operating in accordance with manufactures specifications.
- Completes preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Selects stock, tools, and supplies for assigned tasks.
- Loads and unloads stock, tools, and supplies from vehicles and stores them in assigned locations.
- Reads diagrams, sketches, operation manuels and manufactures specifications to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Completes sectionsof service requests, work orders, and/or projects forms as directed.
- May repair and maintain lawn and snow moving equipment and operate same.
- May perform taks that inlcude installation and repair of ceiling, floor tiles, and base.
- May relieve the plant operating engineer when needed after completing proper training and instructions.
- May be assigned a specific activity to assist, or may be working toward a formal apprenticeship with any of the following: Plumber, Carpenter, Painter, Electrician, Refrigeration Mechanic, Elevator Mechanic, or Plant Operating Engineer.
- Performs other rlated dutied as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Minimum Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, AND
- Must have a background in the mechanical field which included either (A) one (1) year of training in a technical school in the mechanical field and one (1) year of experience; or (B) three (3) years years of documented experience from previous employer(s) performing mechanical duties.
- Technical school(s) must be a combination of classroom study and shop experience. The course should contain no less than 650 hours and be in the mechnical field.
- Cooperative education programs where the student receives on-the-job experience with business and industry may be substituted for either work or shop experience.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year on-the-job training is required is required to attain proficiency of performance of assigned duties.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Must perform work that inlcudes, but not limited to repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Must possess valid licenses as required.
- Must drive vehicle as required.
