Position Summary

The BAL Future Pro Graphic & Motion Designer will work on the visual identity of the Basketball Africa League across campaigns, events, and digital platforms. This role is ideal for a creative and detail-oriented designer who enjoys turning ideas into engaging visuals and motion content that bring the NBAA & BAL brand to life across Africa and beyond. You will work with the Brand Team and collaborate closely with the content, digital, and event teams to produce compelling assets for campaigns, activations, reports, newsletters, and programmes. You will also work alongside creative and strategy agencies to support the development and execution of brand-aligned creative strategies that strengthen BAL’s and NBAA’s identity and fan connection.

Major Responsibilities

Creative Development & Design

  • Create graphics and motion assets for digital, social media, print, merchandise, reports, and events.
  • Develop visuals for concepts, campaigns, marketing programmes, newsletters, and internal communications.
  • Adapt global brand templates to local contexts while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Design materials for fan engagement, player programmes, corporate events, and in-arena branding.
  • Design and format reports, presentation decks, and other visual materials for internal and external use.

Motion Graphics & Animation

  • Produce short-form motion graphics, intros, and transitions for use across social and digital platforms.
  • Design animated templates and effects to enhance storytelling and elevate BAL’s and NBAA’s visual identity.
  • Support content and video teams with graphic elements, lower thirds, and animated titles.

Campaigns & Brand Execution

  • Collaborate with the Brand Marketing and Advertising team on creative concepts and campaign rollouts.
  • Work closely with creative and strategy agencies to align on design direction and execution.
  • Ensure all creative assets meet BAL and NBAA brand guidelines and reflect the organisation’s visual standards.
  • Support multi-platform campaigns with consistent design across static, motion, and digital formats.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Partner with Digital, Social, Events, Fan Experience, and SRPP teams to design assets supporting their initiatives.
  • Create visuals for influencer activations, marketing partnerships, and grassroots programmes.
  • Develop social media assets, including banners and promotional content, aligned with content calendars.
  • Support various departments with timely, high-quality creative deliverables.

Reporting

  • Maintain a structured design library and archive of all creative assets.
  • Track creative timelines and share regular updates on asset delivery and creative output.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for comprehensive professional design, Figma for UI/UX design and collaboration, and Canva for user-friendly template-based design.
  • Understanding of motion design principles, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Independent, proactive, and solutions-focused, with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to translate campaign strategies into impactful visual and animated content.
  • Ability to multitask and to work across teams and external partners.
  • Knowledge of the basketball landscape in Africa is a plus
  • Travel within Africa may be required

Experience Needed

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in graphic and motion design within sports, entertainment, or creative industries.
  • Design and graphic skills, including proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and other creative tools.
  • Business-level fluency in English and French, Arabic is a plus
  • Proven experience in digital marketing, with sports industry experience considered an advantage
  • A portfolio showcasing both static and motion work is required.

Required Education

  • Higher education institution (vocational school, professional degree, university degree, or master's degree) in graphic design, visual communication, multimedia arts, or related field.
