WORK HOURS Monday – Friday, 2pm through 10pm

Full Time Team members work 8-hour shifts for 40 hours per week. Shift times may vary, and extra hours may be added to your schedule to ensure we fulfill our commitments to customers.

Peak Season (January - June) Requirements

  • Shift hours Monday through Friday; 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, or 10pm-6am.
  • Candidates must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift seasonally.
  • Mandatory overtime may include some Saturdays and Sundays.

Varsity Spirit, A Varsity Achievement Brand, is looking to hire a Team Lead (Bindery) 2nd Shift position. This position will provide leadership and direction for employees in the Bindery Department. Leads are expected to report to their supervisor any issues related to harassment or any other adverse working conditions. Employees must have the ability to help manage people, equipment, and workflow to ensure optimal efficiency and quality of work throughout the department. Leads are required to maintain the highest degree of work quality, UPH, attendance, as well as follow all applicable safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working environment. Promote safety in all actions and tasks.
  • Develops a strong working knowledge of and be able of effectively train others to operate Bindery equipment.
  • Effectively communicate instructions and directions to employees and CSA's.
  • Works with supervisors and management to help ensure employees are following company policies and standards always.
  • Assists in researching, implementing, and improving production processes.
  • Understands, follows, and helps with adherence to company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Assists in maintaining supplies as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality control standards.
  • Responsible for monitoring jobs on hold.
  • Help promote a positive working environment through teamwork and professional behavior with all co-workers, supervisors, and managers through personal examples.
  • Maintains personal UPH equivalent to department expectations.
  • Completes tasks efficiently and effectively as directed by management.
  • Develop a daily work plan by Attendance and Backlogs. (Must be able to change on the fly and move workers depending on absenteeism)
  • Manage workflow by being able to print and use YBS Reports (201,211,217)
  • Communicates with Sub Department Leads (Folding, Collating, Sewing and Boxing) what jobs need to be worked by Code Week, Ship Date and Size.
  • Assist operators with problematic jobs and Set Up’s on equipment
  • Assists with productivity reporting.
  • Assists with time and attendance approval in manager's absence.
  • Assists with communicating UPH expectations to employees.
  • Must maintain perfect attendance

  • Ability to write business correspondence, instructional memos, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, employees, and customers.
  • Ability to effectively apply listening and negotiation skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are required.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where some standardization exists.
  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required and a minimum of two years’ operating experience in Bindery.
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in a warehouse/ manufacturing setting
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous related experience
  • Experience folding large, printed signatures with MBO or Heidelberg folding machines a plus!
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as tracking sheets, order confirmation sheets and work orders
  • Proven ability to excel in a high production manufacturing environment which focuses on safety, quality control, and organization
  • Previous success maintaining a strong attendance and on time record
  • Must be very comfortable with Microsoft Office, with extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
