Role Overview:

As a Technical Consultant at capSpire, you will specialise in Cloud Infrastructure Architecture with a focus on delivering innovative solutions for large-scale Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) projects. You will have a strong background in transitioning legacy systems to robust, scalable, and secure cloud environments, with expertise in Azure architecture, DevOps practices, and infrastructure automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Architecture (Azure) – design, deployment, and optimisation of secure, scalable cloud environments.
  • ETRM Systems – infrastructure design, performance optimisation, and operational automation for trading platforms.
  • Infrastructure as Code – on-demand provisioning, configuration management, and environment consistency.
  • Security & Compliance – DevSecOps, network segmentation, WAF, Microsoft Defender, and audit-ready backup strategies.
  • Resilience & Performance – Game Day testing, horizontal database scale-out, and high-availability configurations.
  • Cost Optimisation – resource reservations, environment shutdown strategies, and Azure cost monitoring.
  • Monitoring & Incident Response – Azure Log Analytics, workflow monitoring systems, and proactive incident resolution.
  • Architecture Frameworks – Hub and Spoke network design, decoupled architecture, and TOGAF® principles.
  • Emerging Tech – Generative AI solutions and internal AI tools for productivity and secure knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to work with business and technology stakeholders with strong communication skills.

Key Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in a similar role in financial, energy and/or commodities trading
  • Knowledge of physical and financial energy and commodity markets.
  • Holds multiple advanced Microsoft Azure certifications, TOGAF® certification, and cloud security credentials.
  • Relevant experience in a consulting firm or similar client-facing role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Delivery experience using mainstream capital and energy trading and risk management products such as OpenLink Endur, SolArc Right Angle, Murex, Allegro, Calypso, Sophis, Summit etc.
