Position Summary
Plan, direct, manage and oversee assigned activities and operations of the Department and Finance Administrative Services Purchasing Division including supplier/vendor management; small business development and outreach; materials management to include the oversight of the City Warehouse; and supervision of highly complex competitive sealed bids and proposals.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration or related field; and
Seven (7) years of purchasing and materials management experience; and
To include four (4) years supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Business/organizational partnerships: experience in developing and facilitating business and organizational partnerships in achieving specific goals
- Public speaking and presentations to both large and small groups
- The City of Albuquerque's area business and civic communities
- Experience in leading and managing groups and individuals towards goal accomplishment
- Principles and practices of governmental purchasing and contract administration
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations including general laws and regulations applicable to bidding procedures and purchasing operations

- Implement new policies/procedures required to advance the Purchasing Division under the umbrella of E-Government opportunities
