SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in our facility. The ideal candidate will have expertise in working with high-voltage systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring all work complies with safety regulations and electrical codes. This role involves reading and interpreting technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and blueprints to complete installations and repairs efficiently. The Industrial Electrician will also perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential for success in this role.
This position is based on a 40 hour per week schedule typically Monday through Friday but could flex based on business schedule. Additional/Overtime hours may be required based on business schedule.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
- Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
- Examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
- Performs preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems and equipment, instruments, control systems, drives, and lighting systems.
- Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Plans electrical projects by determining specifications, selecting contractors, establishing installation schedules, planning shutdowns and installations.
- Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work and various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions
- Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
- Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area.
- Complies with established Environmental, Safety and Health programs and procedures.
- Adherence at all times to all Company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Gr. 12 diploma and Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Millwright.
- Red Seal endorsement required - 442A Ticket – Industrial Electrician
- Additional construction electrician certification would be an asset
- Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to wear the required PPE.
- Candidates must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR/CGRP directives.
- Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots and tools as required
SKILLS
- Ability to perform tasks that require a high degree of accuracy
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
