Xanitos is hiring FULL and Part Time UV Disinfection Specialists for Day, Afternoon, and Night at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Job Overview:

The UV Specialist is responsible for performing advanced disinfection procedures in patient care areas using UV-C technology, electrostatic spraying and other no-touch disinfection equipment. This position plays a key role in reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections by applying additional no-touch disinfection applications in patient isolation and other high risk patient rooms after standard cleaning and disinfection activities are completed by Housekeeping or Environmental Services.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Operate the UV-C disinfection machine(s) to complete the manufacturer’s recommended disinfection cycle in both the isolation room and restroom, or other high risk patient care areas following housekeeping service.
  • For rooms including but nt limited to Contact 2 / C. Diff isolation:
  • Ensure that all cycles and treatments are completed in accordance with infection control protocols and documented properly.
  • Confirm proper room setup prior to disinfection, including ensuring the area is unoccupied and prepared for safe UV use.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Services and clinical teams to ensure timely and efficient room turnover.
  • Perform pre- and post-operational checks on all UV-C and electrostatic sprayer equipment to ensure safe, effective function.
  • Maintain accurate logs of completed disinfection activities, noting room number, isolation type, treatment time, and any additional required or relevant information.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or procedural deviations immediately to the supervisor.

Job Qualifications:

  • Post-Offer Medical, Background Screening and Drug Test required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Prior experience in healthcare environmental services or infection prevention preferred.
  • Training on UV-C disinfection equipment, electrostatic spraying preferred. Other types of no-touch disinfection are also preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable using electronic equipment and disinfectant products.
  • Ability to work in environments that may include infectious materials

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The position requires the ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time and frequent walking, standing, and movement of equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required, with or without corrective lenses.

Work may involve possible exposure to disinfectant chemicals and other cleaning agents requiring special clothing or safety equipment. Employees may also be exposed to indirect UV-C light in certain areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, gowns, eye and face protection, and masks, must be worn as required.

Work is performed primarily indoors in patient care areas, including operating rooms and other healthcare environments.
