Breakdown Specialist/Parts Personnel

Located in Cambridge, ON

Salary: $33.00 - $36.00 Per Hour

We are looking for a Breakdown Specialist/Parts Personnel for an overnight shift. This is a short-term assignment that will begin on December 1.

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for handling all aspects of roadside breakdowns, utilizing dealers, mobile technicians, and driver self-repairs to ensure minimal impact on load delivery and maintenance costs. Also, provide prompt customer service to mechanics and order stock and non-inventory parts from vendors, monitors, and corrects discrepancies with the parts room inventory.

Key accountabilities:

• Troubleshooting mechanical issues with drivers
• Source repair vendors in the local area using the approved Vendor List
• Ensure Driver Coordinators are kept apprised of repairs via emails
• Assist the department with accident repairs
• Asset management – place units out of service for repairs, and back into service when repairs are completed
• Locate required parts through in-house inventory or order through the appropriate vendors.
• Work with outgoing parts and supplies that require return to the vendor and complete the appropriate paperwork
• Document parts ordered and delivered in the work order system

Training will be provided.

Days and hours:

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 6:00 PM -6:00 AM – for a total of 36 hours, but pay will be for a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications:

• Secondary School Diploma
• 1-2 years’ experience in a technical support call centre or a related role in transportation is required
• 1-2 years of Parts counter experience required (Truck or Automotive)
• Knowledge of Enrich/CAIN system is considered an asset

Must-haves:

It is not necessary to be a mechanic to succeed in this role, but an interest in/knowledge of trucks and cars is crucial. It would suit a car/truck enthusiast or someone who enjoys tinkering with vehicles.

Nice to have:

• Fluent in French and English
