The Role:

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a key role in supporting daily warehouse operations, ensuring accurate and efficient handling of both inbound and outbound freight. This position involves coordinating shipments, receiving deliveries, performing system transactions, and maintaining clear communication with internal teams and external partners. Depending on business needs, the individual may focus more heavily on either shipping or receiving activities.

Core Responsibilities:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Prepare, process, and document outbound shipments, including booking freight through 3rd-party logistics systems and generating bills of lading and shipping labels.
  • Receive and verify inbound shipments to ensure materials match purchase orders and packing lists, entering data accurately into SAP or related systems (training provided).
  • Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and resolve any discrepancies or damages.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, and electric pallet jacks (EPJs) to load, unload, move, or stage materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipping and receiving transactions, ensuring traceability and compliance with company standards.
  • Support overall dock organization and warehouse flow between inbound and outbound operations.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures to maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management or supervision.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in shipping and receiving, or similar role
  • Forklift experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with cross-functional communication, ERP system experience preferred
  • Cycle counting experience preferred
  • Familiarity with freight booking or 3PL systems preferred.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to complete training required.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The estimated pay range for this position is $18/hr. to $22/hr.. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location.
