Data Operations Engineer

Kroll

Kroll Business Services (KBS) is looking for a Data Engineer with strong Databricks experience to join our Support Ops technology organization. Support Ops is a consolidated technology department within KBS, bringing together project management, product office, enterprise architecture, software engineering, data analysis, data engineering, and client platform engineering.

This role is a blend of strategic data platform engineering and hands-on production support. You’ll help modernize how we manage, transform, and deliver data to clients using Databricks, while also ensuring client deliverables such as reports, data imports, and cleansing tasks are executed with accuracy and timeliness.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines in Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, SQL).
  • Optimize performance and reliability of workflows across diverse client deliverables.
  • Support production client needs (ticket resolution, reporting, imports, cleansing, validation).
  • Partner with analysts, engineers, and platform teams across Support Ops to transition workloads into Databricks and retire legacy systems.
  • Apply data quality frameworks and governance to ensure compliance and trust in client-facing outputs.
  • Help establish standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices for Databricks adoption across KBS.
  • Integrate with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) for scalable deployment, monitoring, and automation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience with Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, MLflow, Unity Catalog, or similar).
  • Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PL/pgSQL) for data transformation and analytics.
  • Hands-on experience designing and orchestrating ETL/ELT pipelines (Airflow, ADF, or Databricks Workflows).
  • Familiarity with data governance and security in enterprise cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
  • Prior work in client-facing or production support environments where timeliness and quality are critical.
  • Working knowledge of Python, .NET, or Java for data engineering workflows.
  • Bonus: Background with data warehousing, BI/reporting tools, or ML pipeline integration.

Why Join Us

At Support Ops, you’ll be part of a modern technology team at the center of KBS, collaborating across disciplines from engineering to product and architecture. You’ll play a critical role in shaping our next-generation Databricks data platform, while directly impacting clients through reliable, high-quality data delivery. This is an opportunity to build for the future while staying close to the business today.
