The Role
The cataloguer is responsible for cataloguing and all related sale preparation
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- Researches property including authenticity, bibliography, and where appropriate provenance and exhibition history.
- Prepares catalogue notes and condition reports and assists with catalogue production.
- Catalogues property including photography, research, footnotes etc.
- Participates in activities that support the smooth running of the sale and liaise with relevant supporting departments
- Provides support and research on pricing and valuation etc.
- Develops own specialist knowledge.
- Builds an understanding of the current market and the key players, objects knowledge and channels.
- Actively participates and prepares property for meetings to determine value, condition and marketability.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree or 2 years work experience in watches is preferred
- Previous internship or work experience in relevant department or having functional experience relevant to the role
- Demonstrated ability in appraising property for catalogue research and raisonee.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Research skills including analysis and interpretation of data.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
- Knowledge of email, spreadsheet, work processing and presentation software (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to learn Christie’s systems as approapiate to role
- Cantonese, Mandarin and English proficient
- An appreciation of and understanding of relevant Business Group and/or region including appreciation/understanding of watches an advantage
- Ability to work collaboratively, team player
Salary Range
HKD 276,000 to 330,000 per annum
