Maintenance & IT Specialist

About the Role:

The Maintenance & IT Specialist is responsible for supporting the overall upkeep, safety, and efficient operation of the physical facility while also providing foundational IT and low-voltage system support to staff and members. This role performs preventive maintenance, routine servicing, seasonal repairs, and minor building, equipment, and plumbing work under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager. The position also assists with maintaining reliable technology, internet, and Wi-Fi services throughout the community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance tasks, including repairing wall and floor coverings, furniture, fixtures, light plumbing, minor electrical issues, re-keying locks, and basic appliance repairs.

Complete painting, touch-ups, and refurbishing projects as assigned.

Conduct routine preventive maintenance as scheduled and directed by the supervisor

Perform minor building system and equipment repairs

Follow and complete work orders according to priority set by the supervisor.

Assist with snow removal and winter maintenance efforts as needed

Perform routine maintenance on all vehicles when assigned.

Maintain all tools, equipment, and supplies in clean, safe, and proper working condition.

Operate The Cedars’ maintenance vehicle and golf carts in a safe and responsible manner.

When qualified, assist the Maintenance Manager and/or perform work on HVAC systems, domestic water systems, refrigeration systems, pumps, motors, fans, electrical systems, and emergency generators.

Install, troubleshoot, and maintain low-voltage systems including door access systems, PERS (Personal Emergency Response Systems), and phone systems.

Provide technical support to staff and members, including assistance with computers, printers, and phone-related issues.

Troubleshoot and resolve audio-visual and internet connectivity issues.

Monitor and maintain members’ internet and Wi-Fi infrastructure to ensure reliable, continuous operation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; technical schooling or a related background preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with staff, members, and vendors.
  • Basic arithmetic ability.
  • General mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Experience in maintenance, IT support, or low-voltage systems is a plus
