We’re looking for an experienced Automation & Controls Technician to support our distribution facility and keep our PLC, BMS, and material handling systems operating at the highest level.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll troubleshoot and improve controls, perform preventative and emergency maintenance, and partner with engineers and vendors to keep the entire operation moving.

Pay Rate: $41.50/hr

Schedule: 1st Shift | Wed–Sat

Type: Temp-to-Hire (conversion in as little as 90 days!)

What You’ll Be Doing

• Troubleshoot and modify PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and building management systems
• Analyze system performance trends and improve metrics at macro and micro levels
• Perform preventive maintenance for automation and maintain electrical/control spare parts
• Assist with scheduled PMs on mechanical material handling equipment (conveyors, sorters, etc.)
• Respond to emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime
• Coordinate with vendors on electrical/control installations as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation — work orders, parts logs, timesheets, and maintenance records
• Perform parts procedure and inventory control to support maintenance effectiveness

What We’re Looking For

Core Skills & Technical Knowledge

• PLC troubleshooting & hardware knowledge (Pico, MicroLogix 1500, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, SLC 500, 1794 Flex I/O)
• BMS/HVAC controls familiarity
• Understanding of 3-phase power distribution, transmission, grounding, and arc flash safety
• Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, robotic, and vision system assembly
• Ability to connect, test, and maintain electrical systems (security, climate, comms, etc.)
• Mechanical material handling experience & emergency repair support
• Familiarity (bonus) with WAGO I/O, Siemens Step 7, CAN, B&R X67

Physical Requirements

This role is performed in a warehouse environment on concrete flooring. Must be able to:

• Stand, walk, hear, push, pull for extended periods
• Frequently bend, reach, lift up to 50 lbs, handle tools/equipment
• Work safely around energized equipment and machinery
• Maintain consistent attendance and reliability
• Use visual acuity for computer screens and printed documentation

Pay Details: $41.50 per hour
