Position Description
The Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer supports Applied Medical by designing, developing, and maintaining reliable data pipelines and analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric. The Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer contributes to enterprise data quality and system performance by building scalable data workflows, optimizing data storage, and supporting advanced analytics across business teams. This role plays a key part in enabling a unified data environment and strengthening Applied Medical’s ability to make data driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric to support enterprise data engineering and analytics needs.
- Collaborate with analysts, data teams, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure system reliability and accurate data refresh cycles.
- Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing to improve performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Integrate Microsoft Fabric services, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse components to streamline end to end data processes.
- Develop Python based tools for data cleaning, transformation, automation, and workflow improvements.
- Support the implementation of machine learning models and data analytics workflows by preparing clean, structured datasets.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, configurations, data pipelines, and system processes.
- Ensure data accuracy, data integrity, and data security across all reporting and analytics solutions.

Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, data science, engineering, or a related field, including BS in computer science or BS in engineering.
- At least five years of experience in data engineering with Azure Data Factory or similar cloud data tools.
- At least one year of enterprise experience working with Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, extract transform load (ETL) and extract load transform (ELT) processes, and modern data warehousing methods.
- Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and cloud-based database technologies.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Experience using Python for data transformation, workflow automation, and analytics support.
- Experience developing reports or dashboards using Power BI.
- Strong problem solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with global teams.
- Ability to maintain data accuracy and verify that data is refreshed and delivered promptly.
Required Certifications:
- Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
- Microsoft Certified Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700)
- Implementing Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric (D-600)
Preferred
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, data quality, normalization, and advanced data modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in Python or other programming languages with advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) capabilities.
- Familiarity with big data technologies including Spark within Microsoft Fabric Runtime.
- Exposure to machine learning, predictive analytics, and advanced analytics workflows.
Preferred Certifications:
- Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure (DP-203)
- Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions (AZ-305)
