The Welder must be capable of performing a variety of welding functions. The individual should be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. A welder is also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as supervision deems necessary.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, general arrangement and sub-component detail drawings
  • Maintain, repair, rebuild and fabricate parts when required for all types of industrial equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnose equipment problems and performs necessary repairs and reports findings to supervision
  • Performs MIG, arc and TIG welding, layout, and pipefitting functions
  • Full compliance with plant, state and federal safety regulations and general work rules. Use of proper lock-out procedure and personal protective equipment
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes
  • Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures
  • Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material
  • Tacks assemblies together
  • Chip off excess weld, slag and spatter
  • Cleans or de-greases parts
  • Performs all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding
  • Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

A high school diploma or GED is required; military experience, trade or technical school preferred

Experience & Skills

  • Certified Welder
  • Required to obtain a D14.1 certification at a G1-G4 position within 30 days after hire,
  • If they have already obtained certification with a previous employer is does not apply in our facility. They would need to qualify with Mazzella.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a metal fabrication environment or other equivalent experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, and OSHA)
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required
  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
