Job Summary

The Department of Graduate Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for the Associate Chair of Advanced Practice Nursing and clinical assistant professor (academic professional track). Rank is negotiable based on experience.

This position is part of a dynamic leadership team in the Graduate Nursing Department which is focused on providing high quality nursing programs. Candidates should show evidence of progressive leadership experience and are expected to contribute to the academic and scholarly goals of the university and college. They will oversee the seven nurse practitioner specialty tracks offered at the university and provide strategic leadership to the programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to all nurse practitioner tracks.
  • Serve as a member of the administrative team to facilitate the provision of quality graduate nursing education.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of program evaluation data.
  • Complete campus faculty workload assignments each semester.
  • Collaborate with the Dean, and Department Chair in budgeting for the needs of the department.
  • Oversee NP core courses including review of course evaluations, curricular development, and ongoing improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions.
  • Monitor staffing and workload needs and recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified faculty
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation of new faculty for NP programs
  • Oversee annual reviews for NP program directors
  • Facilitate the revision of curricula regularly based on student evaluations, faculty input, the changing health care systems, and requirements of relevant accrediting and regulatory bodies.
  • Teach graduate courses in the appropriate APRN specialty area

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP or PhD) or related field (e.g., EdD)
  • Unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a Texas RN license
  • APRN license in the State of Texas or the ability to obtain a Texas APRN license
  • A minimum of two years of experience as an APRN
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of academic leadership experience
  • Experience with APRN education (online and in seat)
  • Experience with interpreting and applying BON Rules and Regulations

Department Information

The Department of Graduate Nursing is one of three academic departments within the CONHI. The department offers an MSN in Nursing Education, an MSN in Nursing Administration, seven nurse practitioner tracks, a Doctor in Nursing practice and a PhD in Nursing. Programs are offered online and in a hybrid format. The Associate Chair of Advanced Practice Nursing will report to the Department Chair.
