As determined by DD2 Classified Salary Schedule (TA2 Scale)
LENGTH OF CONTRACT:
190 days
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required.
- Must provide proof of the completion of a minimum of 60 college credit hours, OR in lieu of this, must pass the Para Professional Exam or the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) test.

JOB SUMMARY:
To assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers, scores, and records items such as achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher for individual students.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Plans and communicates with teacher(s) to organize activities and lessons.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Assists students in mastering equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher.
- Distributes and collects materials assigned by teacher.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Keeps bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up to date.
- Assists with large group activities.
- Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Assists students in the library, cafeteria, physical education, music, art and other electives as needed.
- Assist with academic assessments and assigned work as directed by the teacher.
- Checks and records student attendance.
- Collects and records collection of money for field trips, lunch, book orders, fundraisers, etc.
- Assists students with clothing needs as appropriate.
- Assists with lunch, snack and cleanup routines.
- Assists with wash-up and toilet routines.
- Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Serves as the chief source of information and assistance to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the teacher.
- Maintains confidentiality and professional conduct in all interactions with students and staff.
- Participates in professional development, as assigned.
- Performs all other duties assigned.
EVALUATION:
There will be a written evaluation every third year, at a minimum, on the successful performance of job responsibilities.
