What you`ll do:

We're looking for a dynamic AI Engineering Manager to join our team, which is leading the change to make SAP a truly data-driven company, who can design, build and bring to production, enterprise-grade AI solutions across processes in our operations.

You will play a key role in leading a team developing scalable (Gen) AI and multi-agent systems and products, leveraging SAP's latest technologies, and applying strong software engineering skills combined with a deep understanding of data and AIOps practices to ensure robust, maintainable, and highly available

You will help empower all SAP employees by transforming trusted data into real-time insights and intelligent action, aligning with our goals of Process Simplification, Automation, and Business AI within the Corporate Functions & Analytics (CFA) domain, specifically in one of the following key areas: Finance, Spend, People Solutions and Analytics.

The Role:

In this role, you will lead an engineering team of AI engineers, data scientists, and architects to translate AI concepts into reliable, production-ready systems. Next to people management tasks, you’ll also actively participate in design and implement AI solutions and ensure high standards of scalability, observability and compliance. Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering team onsite and drive the execution for state-of-the-art AI use cases
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and data scientists to translate requirements into technical specifications
  • Design, develop and deploy AI and (gen)AI services and solutions from proof of concept to full enterprise production
  • Develop and integrate multi-agent AI and LLM-based products and solutions
  • Ensure reliability, observability and compliance of deployed AI solutions
  • Guide and mentor junior colleagues to foster AI engineering excellence across teams
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and model deployment workflows for scalable, secure AI systems
  • Implement CI/CD and MLOps practices to automate model training, testing and deployment

What you bring:

  • Experience in leading topics, coaching, and mentoring people
  • Degree in computer science or a similar field
  • Technical background in areas like Python (preferred) or Java, with solid understanding of software engineering principles
  • Experience with agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) and project management tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Experience with multi-agent or generative AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI)
  • Familiarity with SAP AI Core, SAP BTP
  • Familiarity with backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and microservice architectures
  • Fluent English and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Nice to have but not a must:

  • Experience implementing CI/CD and MLOps pipelines in cloud environments (Azure ML, Databricks, AWS)
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, MLFlow)
  • Hands-on experience with data ETL, APIs and model deployment workflows
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and data platforms for big data

These skills are a plus. If you don’t have experience in all these areas, we’ll provide the resources and training you need to become a leader in cutting-edge AI technologies.
