1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with a five year Baccalaureate degree or a six year Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. Maintains a current license and continuing education credits required in the state of Arkansas.
2. Training and Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred. Understanding of overall pharmacy operations, Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy and Arkansas Department of Health regulations specific to hospital operations, as well as other state and federal regulations for hospital operations is required. Requires initiative, good character, and the ability to assume responsibilities.
3. Job Knowledge: Understanding the functions required to provide pharmaceuticals to inpatient and outpatient use. Delivers appropriate care to patients from neonatal through geriatrics with regards to age specific considerations. Stays current by various methods, which may include professional journals, inservices and professional meetings. Utilizes drug information to improve the quality of care for our patients

DESCRIPTION:
Overview: Assists the Director of Pharmacy with the responsibilities of the department in day to day operations. Assumes responsibilities of the department in the absence of the Director. Shares with the Director of Pharmacy the responsibilities of implementing pharmacy policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of pharmacy services throughout the hospital. Supervises the technicians and pharmacists in daily functions allowed by the State Board of Pharmacy. Participates in strategic operations to maintain the appropriate utilization of medications, maintenance of patient safety, departmental budgeting, and departmental planning. Assists in the purchasing of supplies and maintaining a compliant 340B program. Prepares and maintains records and performance improvement audits as required. Strictly complies with all HIPAA laws and guidelines. All other duties as outlined and/or required.
Physical Effort: Maintains good physical well-being. Job requires standing, sitting, and walking for long periods of time and lifting boxes weighing as much as 40 pounds.
