Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to manage the efficient and effective operations of a vehicle fleet of over 60 vehicles. This position develops and implements preventive maintenance programs and manages the maintenance and repair of vehicles which includes: following organizational purchasing processes; managing and developing vehicle transportation budgets; scheduling service and coordinating/conducting transportation of vehicles to service centers; developing and maintaining relationships with maintenance service providers; conducting accident investigations and following reporting procedures in coordination with all state personnel; facilitates all transportation safety and vehicle related-operations training for all personnel; and works collaboratively with all agency departments to identify and advocate for transportation related needs and training. Plan and ensure all departments have adequate inventory of vehicles to meet operational needs; responsible for appropriate and safe use of vehicles; monitors the utilization of the GPS systems; ensures proper and safe storage and parking; audit vehicle cleanliness and repairs to ensure useable life and reduction of fleet loss; and ensures compliance with all vehicle policies, regulations, and laws promulgated by local, state, and federal authorities.

How does it get done?

This position will be done by managing, planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining the work involved regarding the inventory, maintenance, repair, and files for a fleet of 60 plus vehicles.

The Los Lunas Community Program Staff, the Individuals Served by the Program, and other Internal and External Customers in the Community.

Ideal Candidate

Experience maintaining a large fleet of vehicles

Ability to multi-task numerous projects

Ability to prioritize tasks

Experience with vehicle maintenance and repairs

Experience working with multidisciplinary teams

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or Equivalency and six (6) months of experience in customer service, administrative support, program coordination, or fiscal processing roles. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certificate as a condition of continued employment within 45 days of employment. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Office setting, exposure to VDT, extensive personal computer and phone usage.
