Job Description:

The Dental Care Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of

the dental clinic. This includes working closely with patients, parents, dental staff, and dental providers to coordinate dental care through preparing patient rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment as well as maintaining a full and functional dental care schedule for all providers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate dental care with family, provider, and dental staff.
  • Preparation and setting up of instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Perform sterilization of dental equipment.
  • Assist in room preparation.
  • Accurately record information on patient records.
  • Coordinate and maintain dental schedule for multiple sites.
  • Prepare team for day-to-day operations and patient flow.
  • Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments for patients, dispatch messages, and/or calls appropriately.
  • Attend to the needs of patients with the utmost patience, care, compassion, and understanding
  • Communicate with patients, families, visitors, and associates using a caring, friendly, personal, and professional approach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • An ability to establish and maintain effective communication with patients and coworkers.
  • Ability and willingness to learn as well as a desire to expand abilities.
  • Demonstrates computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to learn and proficiently use other software, i.e. practice management system and electronic health records.
  • Ability to type and perform data entry quickly and accurately.
  • Exceptional record keeping skills; ability to obtain and maintain accurate, detailed and confidential records.
  • Effective time management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with patients and staff.

Experience and Education Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Previous dental office experience desired, but not required.

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
