  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

The Director of Programs will implement and execute policies and leadership to provide the overall direction of the business unit in alignment with the Company and Corporate strategic goals. As one of the senior leaders in the company, the Director of Programs (PNW) independently leads and manages the priorities for business unit operations and responsible for the business unit’s Project Management and Production performance. The Director of Programs (PNW) will plan, direct, and coordinate operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate staff managers. The Director of Programs (PNW) is required to optimize the program’s contribution to both the short and long term Company goals. This position must focus on and manage the processes that will control safety, quality, cost, and schedule, as well as, customer satisfaction.

  1. POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

Typically has a MA/MS or BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field plus 25 years directly related experience, including prior management responsibility in professional services company or related industry.

  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to form strong relationships and communication channels to include external and internal constituents
  • Possess extensive experience in customer development and satisfaction
  • Must possess the ability to lead others and create a supportive, collaborative work environment.
  • Must possess knowledge of shipboard electrical and mechanical systems and troubleshooting practices
  • Must possess knowledge of Project Management methodologies and processes, cost management and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Possess knowledge of financial reporting and material procurement processes
  • Experience working within a “Cost-Type” or “Fixed Type” Contract environment is a plus, but not a prerequisite
  • Familiar with NAVSEA Standard Items as well as OSHA Safety and Environmental policies
  • Knowledge of Carrier Team One and Nuclear Carrier Maintenance Policies
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable, insurable transportation and willing to carry a “business” type rider insurance policy if necessary while using this vehicle when accomplishing company business activities
  • Able to gain access to Government facilities, and able to obtain a Security Clearance once employed by NASSCO-Bremerton

  1. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the General Manager. Direct and coordinate personally or through subordinate managerial personnel, activities concerned with implementation and carrying out objectives of the company.

  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Confers with organization officials and staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems.
  • Overseas human resource activities for various projects, including the development of resource plans and activities
  • Reviews reports submitted by staff members to recommend approval or to suggest changes.
  • Prepares budgets for approval, including those for funding and implementation of programs.
  • Prepares and presents reports concerning activities, expenses, budgets, government statutes and rulings, and other items affecting businesses or program services.
  • Plans, develops and executes assigned projects, ensuring activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives.
  • Confers with staff to explain the program and individual responsibilities for functions and phases of the program.
  • Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished towards specified program objectives and modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities, in order to obtain the objectives.
  • Controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations.
  • The position will directly manage 3 to 5 Managers, delegate responsibilities to them, and have indirect influence on the entire organization.
  1. ACCOUNTABILITY

This is a high impact position with influence on the following: major customer accounts, cost savings to the bottom line profitability of the company, and fulfillment of customer demands.

Pay Range: $137,680- $180,705

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity. At NASSCO Bremerton we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of salary range. Offers will be based on experience, abilities, and knowledge similar to the NASSCO Job being applied for NASSCO employees performing similar work.
