Job Overview:
As an Accounts Payable Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the activities associated with the processing of invoices and cash management. You will collaborate with the financial leadership team to optimize payable processes while promoting effective resource allocation and ensuring invoices are paid accurately and timely.
This hybrid opportunity may report to our corporate offices in Manhattan, New York; Bloomington, Minnesota; or Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Your Responsibilities:
- Manages the overall functions of the client accounting accounts payable department while maintaining standards of excellence for processes, methods and personnel.
- Works with leadership team to develop goals and communicate established goals with department. Ensures the goals and needs of the department, company and its customers are consistently met.
- Oversees and assists with the implementation of process improvement and quality control of A/P functions to maximize productivity, minimize duplicate work, and ensure a quality product is delivered.
- Ensures deadlines and goals are met in a timely manner and prioritize and delegate workload as necessary.
- Provides leadership and direction and assist in the investigation and resolution of internal and external problems and concerns.
- Manages, oversees and/or delivers training and ensure all employees are aware of and comply with company, government and customer regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Maintains and improves tools to measure the quality and timeliness of products and analyzes the results.
- Oversees and manages the department’s systems and technology including but not limited to, testing, module maintenance and enhancements, troubleshooting and system implementations.
- Liaison between internal and external clients to understand their requirements and goals and to provide mutually beneficial solutions.
- Serves as a critical link in recognizing and collecting potential lost revenue via account auditing.
- Establishes and maintains open communication with management and internal and external clients relating to A/P policies, practices, and procedures.
- Develops and maintains SOPs and strategies for department. Reviews processes, analyzes trends and ensures compliance with current statutes. Oversees the communication and compliance of SOP’s within teams.
- Maintains awareness of changes in rules, statutes or regulations and communicate changes to staff. Responsible for training staff when new procedures are required to comply with changes.
- Identifies possible issues, inconsistencies and suggests appropriate corrective procedures.
- Manages and oversees the budget as it relates to A/P and ensure expenses are maintained within budget.
- Serve as liaison with property management, G/L and A/R teams to ensure the three areas are working effectively and efficiently and provide feedback to senior leadership by identifying areas of improvement.
- Attracts, develops and retains a diverse team knowledgeable and capable of meeting the financial management needs of each client.
- Supports the onboarding of new financial management associates.
- Provides ongoing support with training, coaching and developing career paths for associates that desire growth opportunities.
- Regularly influences and mentors the team and communicates the importance of having a positive attitude, demonstrating professionalism, and maintaining a strong work ethic.
- Holds self and team accountable for completing leadership responsibilities and financial management tasks and activities in alignment with standard operating procedures and owning issues and solving problems in collaboration with other departments to deliver measurable business results.
- Ensures team is consistent and high performing.
- Conducts ongoing performance management activities by providing constructive feedback and coaching through regular check ins, structured one-on-meetings, mid-year touchpoints and annual reviews.
- Has a regular team meeting cadence to review key performance indicators, update on company initiatives, discuss client expectations, review financials, address training needs and overall department objective.
- Builds trust and camaraderie with team and inspires and motivates teamwork.
- Cultivates an open team environment and seeks feedback.
- Leads and mentors the team to build on our service culture and results-based accountability for performance.
- Partners with Accounting leadership to develop onboarding training and routine training best practices to support and further develop the accounting team.
- Coordinates applicable accounting related training for accounting teams and broader property management group.
- Assists in the implementation of features and procedures to enhance the accounting department's workflow
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from a four-year college or university is required.
- Five (5) years’ of work experience in Accounts Payable or a related field. Accounts Payable experience in the property management or real estate industry strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and strong database skills together with proficiency in Microsoft suite
- Strong financial acumen and analytical agility
- Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills

$ 60000 - $ 70000 / year
