Position Summary

The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Memphis (www.memphis.edu/csd) is one of the leading academic and clinical programs in the country. This graduate-only audiology program resides in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility on the University’s Park Avenue Campus. This is a limited clinical faculty position (full time contract with benefits running through June 30, 2026, with possibility to extend as funding allows). The position is ideal for a strong, innovative clinician whose focus area is in cochlear implants and who will provide clinical education in an academic setting. The clinical program offers the full scope of audiology services to our patients including diagnostic assessments across the lifespan, hearing aid services, cochlear implant services, bone conduction device services, electrophysiology assessments, vestibular assessments, auditory rehabilitation, and auditory processing disorder testing and treatment. The SCSD will begin reviewing applications on November 24, 2025.

Applicants are expected to collaborate on research and service with clinical and academic faculty. This candidate is expected to be involved in the maintenance and growth of the adult implantable devices program. Those with experience providing cochlear implant services are encouraged to apply. This position requires an AuD or PhD. The applicant must have ASHA certification (CCC-A) and be eligible for TN state licensure. Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Communication Sciences & Disorders. Effort allocation is expected to be 80% clinical education (a minimum of 40% spent in direct client contact), 10% service, and 10% professional activity.

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • AuD or PhD in audiology
  • Tennessee state licensure in audiology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience
  • Completed at least .2 ASHA continuing education units (CEUs) (2 hours) in the area of clinical education, and .1 CEU (1 hour) in the area of ethics obtained within the past credentialing period. If this is not available, SCSD will assist with an independent study for ASHA CE credit
