Job Title: Adjunct Teaching - Educational Leadership & Foundations (EDLF 768)

The Educational Leadership and Foundations Department in the McKay School of Education is hiring an adjunct professor to teach a graduate course in philosphy and history of Western education. The purpose of this course is to help educational leaders to understand major philosophies of education and their historical and current influence on educational theory, practice, and leaderhip.

Position Start Date: January 2, 2026

Required Degree: MS in Philosophy, Educational Leadership, Educational Foundations, or a related field.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

Qualified applicants will demonstrate the following:

  • In-depth understanding of the philosophy of education, history of Western civilization and education, and dominant figures influencing the development of modern educational thought and practice (e.g., Plato, Descartes, Rousseau, Locke, Dewey);
  • Understanding of modern educational systems, institutions, and practices;
  • Experience effectively teaching in-person or online, or aptitude to do so.

Preferred Qualifications

  • University-level teaching experience;
  • Experience teaching in-person and online.

Duties/Expectations:

  • Teach EDLF 768, a 3 credit course
  • Plan and deliver lessons once every other week, with a 3-hour session every other Saturday and an additional 3-hour session every fourth Friday;
  • Grade students’ assignments.
