Spherion is seeking a motivated and reliable Automotive Research and Development Lab Tech to work with our customer in Troy!

This is a a full-time temp to hire position! This role will provide essential manual labor support for our in-house prototype part manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks such as loading and unloading steel stampings, packing and unpacking components, performing clean-up and paint touch-ups, and assisting with the setup and tear-down of tests. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Load and unload steel stampings from weld jigs according to instructions.
• Pack and unpack steel stampings and other components carefully and efficiently.
• Perform component clean-up tasks as required.
• Conduct paint touch-ups on prototype parts with attention to detail.
• Operate basic hand tools safely and effectively.
• Assist in the setup and tear-down of various tests as directed.
• Closely follow written and verbal instructions to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
• Perform other manual labor tasks as needed to support the team.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Skills:

• Previous experience in an automotive and/or machine shop environment.
• Basic knowledge and/or experience with MIG and ARC welding.
• Demonstrated history of being hard-working and proactive.

High School

Experience:

1-4 years

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in operating basic hand tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and/or operate a hand lift as needed (with provided training).
• Ability to closely follow written and verbal instructions with precision.
• Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in previous roles or commitments.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
