RECREATIONAL SPORTS (BL-RECS-IUBLA)

Recreational Sports is part of the OSL, which is dedicated to supporting students' health, safety, and success throughout their IU experience. The Recreational Sports mission is to connect, inform, and inspire individuals to lead active, healthy lifestyles. Serving over 36,000 students, faculty, staff, and community members annually, we offer diverse programs across two multipurpose facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, adventure spaces, and more. Our team includes 46 professional staff and over 800 student employees.

Intramural Sports Officials play a key role in fostering a fun, fair, and safe environment for students participating in intramural sports. In this position, you'll learn the rules of various sports, manage gameplay, make confident and impartial calls, and encourage good sportsmanship among participants. This role offers a great opportunity to stay active, develop leadership and communication skills, and become part of a supportive campus community. You'll also gain valuable experience in customer service, conflict resolution, time management, and teamwork skills that are transferable to any future career.

These positions require standing for long periods of time and frequently moving about the workspace. Positions require working both indoors and outdoors and ability to move objects up to 50 pounds with assistance. Onsite work will take place at the following campus recreation facilities, depending on the needs of each sporting event:
$12.00/hour
Work-study eligible. Students who are eligible for Federal Work-Study are encouraged to apply. To check your eligibility, log in to your One.IU account and go to View/Manage My Financial Aid. There, you can review your financial aid package and confirm your work-study status.
Potential for merit payrate increases based on performance. Opportunities for advancement.
An average of 8-12 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours per week across all campus positions.
Must officiate at least 1 sport season per semester (each semester includes 2 sport seasons).
Flexible scheduling is available and may vary by sport and position.
Early morning, evening, and weekend shifts may be required based on game schedules.
