GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Market Leader – Environment (WA) to join our Western Australian operations. This key leadership role will work within an energetic and committed team of multidisciplinary professionals to strengthen client relationships and drive the continued growth of GHD’s Environment business across the state.

GHD is a recognised leader in Western Australia’s environment market, supported by a large, multidisciplinary local team and strong, enduring client relationships across the energy, resources, transport, water, and Defence sectors.

Working with the Regional Market Leader, you will focus on developing business opportunities, building and strengthening our Environment business through your understanding of the WA, your ability to connect with clients and drive continued growth of our environment business.

Working on a diverse range of projects within the Environment sector, you will:

  • Provide the vision and direction for the Environment Market Sector in accordance with our Australian Market Strategy
  • Lead proactive Business Development and Client focused activities as you maintain strong relationships, monitor the market for new opportunities and maintain a growth focus to maximise our success. You will then develop key pursuit strategies, which will involve significant client engagement and leading bid teams to prepare proposals for winning new work
  • Lead market activities, collaborating with senior management across the Australia/Pacific Region
  • Delivery of iconic projects as Project Director for significant environmental studies across Australia and the Pacific, providing technical leadership to contribute to and ensure the successful delivery of projects
  • Coach and mentor staff to increase business development capability and client connectivity
  • Ensure ongoing success in relation to key metrics and desired business goals, including financial performance and other market deliverables

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in environmental planning, engineering, remediation, environmental sciences (or related disciplines)
  • Minimum of 15 years’ tried experience in business development tasks for a service company, ideally with technical consulting industry knowledge, strong business acumen and drive for results
  • Recognised experience in the WA Environment sector, ideally in areas such as ecology, environmental assessment, planning, mine closure, natural resources management, sustainability, contaminated lands or waste services
  • A strategic, client-centric approach to working, demonstrating a strong network of contacts and clients, ideally within the WA infrastructure, with proven success in winning business and growing related project portfolios market and / or broader Australian sectors
  • Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to influence with or without formal authority
  • Problem solving skills and sound decision-making ability
