Job Title: Field Engineer

Job Description

As a Field Engineer, you will play a vital role in commissioning building automation systems for a variety of new construction projects, including K-12 schools, clinics, data centers, and pharmaceutical buildings. Your primary function will be to perform point-to-point checks on installed systems such as chiller plant controls, HVAC, and energy monitoring, ensuring everything operates correctly. This role involves travel to various sites and requires a commitment to customer satisfaction and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems utilizing advanced Direct Digital Control technology.
  • Serve as the local contact for technical issues and lead in the field.
  • Offer effective solutions for increasingly complex system issues.
  • Provide turnkey project delivery on small to medium projects.
  • Ensure that systems operate properly, including controls, sensors, and software.
  • Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports.
  • Implement time management strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate and document the project status and details for the customer.
  • Provide site-specific training to owners and operators on the complete system.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or a technical field.
  • Experience in a role involving customer or contractor interaction.
  • Ability to climb ladders and use lift equipment over 8 feet above grade.
  • Capable of lifting items up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid and current Driver’s License and insurable by company insurance.
  • Experience with building automation software, such as WebCTRL.
  • Basic knowledge of navigating and integrating into building automation systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technology.
  • Proficient in the use of an electrical multi-meter.
  • Understanding of common HVAC systems like RTUs, air handlers, VAV boxes, chillers, and boilers.
  • Ability to read and understand HVAC mechanical prints.
  • Ability to check out and commission common HVAC controls devices such as sensors, valves, damper motors, and relays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, Technical/Business School Certificate, or Diploma in HVAC, Controls, or related field.
  • Travel 70% to sites with 30% office/home work in Madison, WI.
  • Ability for scheduled travel 35% of the time, mostly local.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $41.00/hr.
