Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team. This role involves various clerical duties, including managing shipping and billing processes, ensuring timely communication with carriers, and performing tasks using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and more. Experience with Oracle and R12 is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate must be able to work standard business hours and some Saturdays, as needed, in a fast-paced environment.

Shift: 8:00 am- 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with potential overtime when needed

  • Clerical Duties: Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, organizing documents, maintaining records, and assisting with office operations related to shipping and receiving
  • Copying and Scanning: Use office equipment to copy and scan important documents related to shipping and billing for accurate record-keeping
  • Data Entry: Input shipping and billing information into databases or systems (e.g., Oracle, R12) and ensure all records are updated correctly
  • Communication: Reply to carrier inquiries and customer service requests in a professional and timely manner. Ensure all communications are clear, accurate, and documented
  • Excel and Word: Use Microsoft Excel to manage spreadsheets, track shipments, and generate reports. Utilize Microsoft Word for preparing documents and correspondence
  • Shipping Coordination: Assist in coordinating shipments and preparing necessary documentation such as packing lists, shipping labels, and bills of lading
  • Timeliness and Reliability: Maintain consistent and reliable attendance and be able to adapt to varying work hours, including some Saturdays as required

Qualifications

  • Education: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Previous experience in shipping and receiving department performing clerical duties, and administrative duties
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Oracle and R12 systems is a plus
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to correspond with carriers and internal teams
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Reliability: Must be dependable and able to meet deadlines while maintaining high levels of professionalism
  • Work Schedule: Must be available to work during normal business hours, with flexibility to work some Saturdays as needed
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
