Summary: Under the general direction of Quality Supervisor, this individual is responsible for supporting the daily inspection tasks as delegated by the Quality Lead. Primary activities in this role include in-coming inspection of raw material, 1st piece and final inspection of cables, and provide continued support for in-process and quality related activities such as quality testing, process monitoring, and process improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Complete final inspection tests on cables to verify that manufacturing operating standards are being maintained and quality expectations are met. Record retention samples.
  • Assist with in-process checks and verify measurements of product being produced based on Manufacturing Specifications.
  • Perform receiving inspection on raw materials
  • Assist with continuous improvement activities (TPM, Lean, etc.)
  • Assist with engineering trials as requested.
  • Perform other Operations and/or Quality activities as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma and/or associate degree.
  • Minimum of 1+ years’ experience in production or technical support, preferably in a cable assembly or electro-mechanical environment.
  • Ability to read and understand specification sheets and their contents as they relate to finished products.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the use of test and measurement tools and instruments relating to finished cable, connectors, and cable assembly products.
  • Knowledge on how to utilize measurement tools such as Calipers, Micrometers, Microscopes, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and such tools as Pareto Charts, SPC control charts, Ishikawa diagrams and JIT.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with the English language, written and spoken.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in general computer and internet processes, Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts, financial ratios, and business equations. Possess strong analytical skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
