About This Role:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Automation Testing Engineer ensures the reliability and performance of the systems that power a cloud-connected digital ecosystem spanning marketing websites, web applications, and IoT products for home gardeners and growers. As part of the Shared Services team supporting multiple projects, this role develops and maintains automated test frameworks, integrates testing into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborates across teams to validate that every release meets high standards for quality, usability, and stability. By combining technical rigor with a focus on user experience, the QA Automation Testing Engineer helps deliver seamless, dependable products across all digital touchpoints.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test frameworks for mobile, web, backend APIs, and IoT services.
  • Creates and executes test plans, test cases, and scripts for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Works closely with engineers to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, Expo EAS, etc.).
  • Collaborates with product owners and UX/UI teams to define acceptance criteria and ensure full coverage of user stories.
  • Identifies, documents, and tracks defects using issue management tools (e.g., Jira), ensuring timely resolution.
  • Performs exploratory testing and validates fixes across multiple platforms, devices, and browsers.
  • Analyzes test results, reports key quality metrics, and proactively recommends improvements to prevent recurring defects.
  • Works with firmware engineers to verify IoT device interactions, telemetry accuracy, and shadow state synchronization.
  • Validates backend data integrity, API contracts, and integration points between system components.
  • Collaborates with the Scrum Master to ensure quality gates and testing deliverables are met for each sprint and release.
  • Contributes to documentation of QA standards, automation guidelines, and test data management practices.
  • Focuses on the voice of the customer and continuously improves products and services to deliver meaningful user value.
  • Supports testing efforts across multiple cross-functional teams and release cycles

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.

Experience Required and Preferred:

  • Minimum 2–4 years of professional experience in software QA with emphasis on automation.
  • Experience testing web or mobile applications and RESTful APIs in a production environment.

What You Bring:

  • Proficiency with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or PyTest.
  • Strong understanding of API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Newman) and techniques for verifying RESTful endpoints.
  • Familiarity with mobile test automation tools such as Detox or Appium.
  • Experience scripting in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python for test automation.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD systems, Git workflows, and version control best practices.
  • Understanding of AWS cloud environments, IoT device testing, distributed architectures, and data validation from telemetry or shadow states.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems, isolate issues, and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation.
  • Commitment to quality, usability, and continuous process improvement.
  • Knowledge of serverless or microservices architectures on AWS preferred.
  • Ability to balance priorities across multiple teams and projects while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

The salary for this opportunity ranges from $79,000 to $95,000

The Company complies with all federal/state/local regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the national average for this job requisition. Compensation offered will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, and other job-related factors. The actual compensation range may vary based on geographic location of the selected candidate.
