The Department of Mathematics & Physics at Iona University is seeking applications for a full-time Clinical Lecturer of Physics (non-tenure track) to begin in Fall 2026. For this position we seek candidates with demonstrated expertise in any area of theoretical physics, experimental physics, physics education, or closely related fields. We are especially interested in candidates with interdisciplinary scholarly interests who can collaborate with faculty from other disciplines.

Iona University and the Department of Mathematics & Physics emphasize teaching excellence. The department offers an undergraduate major and minor in Mathematics, a minor in Physics, and support for mathematics education degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level. The department also offers courses in support of other undergraduate majors and the university core.

Faculty in the department use diverse teaching methods including the use of technology. Class sizes are small with core classes having 25 or fewer students. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate that they are effective teachers and can engage diverse learners using multiple pedagogical strategies. Responsibilities:

• Participate in the teaching and ongoing development of the physics curriculum, including laboratories. Teaching duties include 24 contact hours each academic year, and may include courses in other closely related disciplines. Full contact hours are given for laboratory instruction.
• Participate in service requirements as broadly defined in the department and university.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Physics, Physics Education, or closely related field received prior to August 2026 (Preferred).
• M.S. in Physics, Physics Education, or closely related field received prior to August 2026 (Required).
• Candidates must show a commitment to teaching using demonstrably effective methods of instruction, assessment and promise of continued professional growth in pedagogy. Successful candidates will demonstrate effectiveness in undergraduate teaching; evidence of critical, reflective thinking about the teaching and learning of physics.
• Demonstrated interest in service to the department and to the University.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging in an educational environment.
