Description
Serve as a technical expert of one or more International Codes (I-Codes) within ICC’s Technical Training team with a focus on developing curriculums, preparing instructional tools, delivering training in person and virtually, and maintaining an instructor corps. Position is expected to travel a minimum of 25% of the time.
Position Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Training Department’s technical expert and resource for assigned codes and topics.
- Lead and participate in the development of training curriculums.
- Lead and participate in the development of training tools, such as PowerPoint presentations.
- Deliver courses (in person, online live) in multiple areas of competency.
- Travel a minimum of 25% of the time.
- Assist with the review of online self-paced courses in multiple areas of competency.
- Recruit and maintain an active group of instructors and subject matter experts in assigned areas (ICC Staff from other departments and Contract instructors)
- Assist in the implementation of the Authorized Instructor Credential.
- Assist with delivery of periodic train-the-trainer events, as assigned.
- May conduct final evaluation of potential Authorized Instructors, as requested.
- Other training related duties as assigned by the Director of Technical Training or SVP of Training.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Education / Experience:
- Maintains knowledge of current codes
- Displays full grasp of subject matter
- Maintains strong grasp of adult learning theories and their applications
- Self-motivated collaborator, working well with other professionals
- Proven computer skills including PowerPoint and Adobe
- Proven writing and communication skills
- Excellent instructor platform skills
- Group facilitation skills
- Minimum 10 years of technical experience
- Minimum of 10 years of I-Code related experience
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
Preferred indications of competence to fill the position:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building code department or similar
- Minimum of 3 years of proven success as an instructor in adult learning environment
- Hold a minimum of one ICC certification in related code or obtain certification within 6 months of hire
- Have previously completed ICC Authorized Instructor program or complete within 6 months of hire
- Hold valid driver’s license
Physical requirements of role:
- Must be able to drive or travel to and from training locations
- Must be able to lift and move training equipment and materials (up to 50lbs)
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
