WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

  • As the Lead Materials innovator within Apparel Materials innovation, you’ll develop and apply material expertise to fuel and support strategic material innovation efforts in, polymers, yarn, fabric, dyeing & post finishing field within Nike innovation.
  • You will be asked to integrate textiles expertise to drive various NXT innovation programs across all Apparel material innovation technologies.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON

  • You will be involved in the overall process of material development from ideation through commercialization and scale up.
  • You'll also collaborate to explore new test methods & protocol for materials research projects that fall outside the normal realm with internal and external lab resources.
  • You'll continually research and analyze new materials opportunities and technologies in the marketplace. You will work on digital tools to facilitate data inform decision.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

  • You will collaborate with NXT design, product management, product Creation teams and Sustainability team to develop new textile solutions for a variety of materials and processes.
  • You will also be working with material engineering teams to solve seeding and scale challenges for material innovation.
  • You'll manage and work with all tiers of external textile partners, finishing & machinery suppliers, and laboratory testing personnel to ensure that relevant materials and processes meet all performance specifications and are able to scale up to bulk production expectation.
  • You will conduct presentations and educational seminars to innovators, designers, and other interested groups.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Science, Textile Engineering/Technology, Design, or related field.
  • A Master’s degree is a plus
  • Minimum 7-10 years' relevant work experience preferred.
  • Requires knowledge and hands-on experience of knit, woven & non-woven textiles. Familiarity with the state-of-the-art technologies in textiles, manufacturing and finishing processes.
  • Requires knowledge and experience on Fibers and yarn.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues, but also technological solutions, and relevant environmental legislation, policy, and guidance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work under tight timelines and with limited information.
  • Strong interpersonal effectiveness, project management and data-based decision making (i.e. statistical methods) track record.
  • Ability to work with a moderate level of guidance and direction and effectively elevate strategic concerns to senior management in a timely manner.
  • Ability to make decisions within guidelines and policies that impact own priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and driven to exceed expectations.
  • Strong team orientation.
