Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an QMED/Oiler to work full time aboard USAV Worthy, Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. Astrion has worked extensively at the Reagan Test Site in Kwajalein where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.
Candidate must be available for the entire mission duration ~ 1 December 2025 to ~18 January 2025.
You will join the ship in Honolulu, Hawaii and separate at Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
US passport with 6 months to expiration date required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a federal background check to obtain and hold a DoD Common Access Card (CAC). Current U.S. Citizenship Required
- Ability to pass a post offer drug screen and physical/medical clearance. Current and Valid U.S. Passport*.
- Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credentials for QMED with STCW/International Able Seafarer Engine (AS-E) Endorsement*, TWIC card, and all required Licenses/Certifications for rating.
- (Passport, MMC and med cert must have minimum of 6 months of validity prior to placement, or proof of renewal in progress.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment used on an ocean-going vessel.
- USCG firefighting endorsement and other USCG endorsements.
- Tankerman PIC Endorsement
- Self-starter, team player and conscientious worker
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stands Engineering watches, stands security-related watches, performs general maintenance, repair, sanitation, and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas in the engine department.
- Maintains lifeboats, rescue boats, life-rafts, and other lifesaving, firefighting, emergency, and damage control gear.
- Perform Fire and Emergency duties associated with the QMED/Oiler’s billet on Ship’s Station Bill. This includes dressing out in firefighting gear as part of the fire team.
- Must be familiar with lifting and deploying equipment from and to the deck using winches, cranes, A-frames, and other lifting devices.
- Responsible for assisting in maintaining the safety and security of the ship and embarked personnel
- Ensure relevant records are maintained and accurately completed.
- Remains on standby/recall status to the vessel during dockside periods, as needed.
- Comply with applicable RGNEXT and Astrion safety policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines, including but not limited to RGNEXT OSHE hearing conservation and respiratory protection programs.
