Job Details

The Professional Health Coordinator role includes assessment, case management, short-term counseling, and support for both mandatory and voluntary caregivers—primarily healthcare professionals with concerns such as substance use, mental health, or cognitive issues.

Caregivers in this position must manage sensitive and complex cases with discretion, professionalism, and high emotional intelligence. They will collaborate with hospital leadership, work across all organizational levels, and may contribute to compliance monitoring and program development.

A caregiver in this role works days Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Tradition Hospital with the ability to float to Indian River and Martin Hospitals. Occasional schedule flexing and travel may be required for events, presentations, interventions and critical response services.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide assessment, coordination, case management and monitoring of mandatory participants, including licensed healthcare professionals and physicians with suspected issues of impairment.
  • Provide consultation to hospital leadership on the identification and resolution of job performance problems relative to employee personal problems.
  • Provide short-term counseling and supportive services to voluntary participants.
  • Assist with program promotion and awareness by establishing relationships with key hospital personnel and conducting presentations.
  • Staff all critical cases with senior Caring for Caregivers leadership, as well as the Licensed Professionals Health Committee and Physician Health Committee when indicated.
  • Complete all documentation in adherence with professional and departmental standards.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Master's degree in one of the Behavioral Sciences.
  • Florida license in a mental health professional (Clinical Social Worker OR Mental Health Counselor OR Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor)
  • Five years of experience with direct clinical services, including broad exposure to chemical dependency and psychiatric diagnoses

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Background in assessment and case management of cases involving mental health and substance use related challenges.
  • Master’s Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP)
  • Prior experience in employee assistance program (EAP) and/or clinical experience with professional populations
  • Knowledge of or experience in healthcare professional impairment and rehabilitation
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills

Physical Requirements:

  • A high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC.
  • Normal or corrected vision and hearing.
  • Extensive sitting and frequent walking.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
