Job Description:

This is an off-campus work study position with Albuquerque Public Schools- Located at Taylor Middle School. This position requires a work study award.

Can you handle making Math fun for Middle school students? This tutoring position is for a Afterschool Math tutor. In this position it will require you to engage Middle school students, help with Math specific homework and tutoring basic math skills. Students come in at many levels and being able to give them small group instruction at their level and mentorship with adults to increase their socio-emotional wellbeing.

You will be asked to prepare and organize tutoring materials and implement Math specific games and activities for students. If you want to spark the love of learning, and be a positive role model for Middle school students, encourage parents and be involved in the community this is the right job for you!

Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Job requirements:

• Provide structured learning opportunities and experiences for students during out-of-school time
• Assist Students with homework assignments
• Help build Math activities that include technology, place based learning, cultural, fine arts, cooking/math, and service learning
• APS full background and fingerprinting (your responsibility to pay)
• Reliable Transportation
• Be willing to utilize positive discipline techniques
• Available 2:30pm-5:30pm weekly M-F (total 15 hours a week)
• Be motivated and a self starter, with Leadership skills
• Good communication skills
• Desire to Teach or in school for Education degree preferred but not required
