Salary: $27.00 per hour DOE
A high-precision manufacturing facility in the Round Rock area is seeking an experienced GTAW Welder – Level 2 to join its production team. This position performs complex welding and fabrication on stainless steel and specialty alloys used in advanced industries such as semiconductor, medical, and aerospace manufacturing.
The ideal candidate is a skilled TIG welder who demonstrates exceptional precision, quality control, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule: 2nd shift | Monday – Friday | 3:00pm – 12:00am
Pay: $27.00 per hour DOE
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, fabricate, and weld high-purity stainless steel piping and components using the GTAW (TIG) process.
- Set up, program, and operate both manual and automated orbital welding machines.
- Weld in multiple positions, including 1G, 2G, 5G, and 6G, using positioners as required.
- Perform complete joint penetration welds and fillet welds on stainless steel, aluminum, Hastelloy, Inconel, and titanium.
- Work with tubing and pipe ranging from .035”–.125” wall thickness and up to 6” schedule 40.
- Maintain dimensional tolerances within ±0.010" and angular tolerances within ±0.5°.
- Achieve a weld rejection rate of 3% or less.
- Interpret blueprints, AWS weld symbols, and welding procedure specifications (WPS) accurately.
- Inspect and verify weld quality to ensure products meet all specifications and customer requirements.
- Record production data and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, organized work environment and assist with general shop upkeep.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of GTAW/TIG welding experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficient in manual and orbital welding processes with knowledge of argon purge techniques (achieving 10 PPM).
- Strong understanding of stainless steel metallurgy and basic fabrication practices.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and blueprints.
- Skilled in using inspection and measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, and gauges.
- Familiarity with 6S / Lean manufacturing and documentation control preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or welding certificate preferred.
- ASME/AWS certifications are a plus but not required.
- Basic PC literacy and ability to track work orders and record data.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Physical & Work Environment:
- Work performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and inert gases.
- Exposure to standard cleaning materials (IPA, deionized water, degreasers).
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
