What You’ll Be Doing
Compliance
- Review all statutory laws and regulations applicable to the company to ensure full compliance.
- Ensure all business activities adhere to legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
- Maintain all regulatory licences and ensure they remain current and appropriate for business needs.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and contribute to the development of internal policies, procedures, and training.
- Serve as a liaison with all regulatory authorities and maintain relationships with relevant legal bodies and trade associations.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments and industry initiatives; advise management on any required actions.
- Liaise with third parties, auditors, and other stakeholders to provide transparency on the company’s control environment and compliance framework.
- Prepare compliance checklists and reports, and ensure timely submissions to regulators.
- Review internal SLA manuals to ensure all relevant regulatory requirements are reflected.
- Perform any other duties as required by the company.
Legal
- Liaise with auditors, external lawyers, tax advisers, bankers, and shareholders.
- Prepare legal and compliance documentation required for statutory, legal, or regulatory purposes.
- Coordinate with related parties across the group, service providers, external advisers, and government agencies.
- Maintain and review legal agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and implement business contracts and agreements.
- Provide legal support in resolving customer complaints and disputes to mitigate litigation risk.
- Review all documents with legal implications before signing or implementation to safeguard the company’s interests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience, including at least 3 years in compliance, preferably within financial services or another regulated environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- High determination and tenacity; focused and self-motivated.
- Solid understanding of compliance activities in financial services and experience developing or managing compliance monitoring programmes.
- Articulate communicator with the ability to engage internally and externally (lawyers, regulators, auditors) at all levels.
- Sound knowledge of Nigerian regulatory frameworks and agencies, including CAC, NFIU, NLRC, and CBN directives and guidelines.
- High level of determination, focus, and self-motivation.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality with strong professional ethics.
