Job Description Summary

The Head Coach of Women’s Soccer organizes, conducts, and supervises all aspects of a Division II Women’s Soccer program within the parameters designated by the University, the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Train and guide student-athletes in the individual skills and techniques of the sport.
  • Develop team strategies and game tactics.
  • Educate student-athletes on proper nutrition for collegiate athletic performance.
  • Guide student-athletes in effective strength and conditioning training.
  • Coach student-athletes on time management strategies to balance academic and athletic responsibilities.
  • Mentor team captains in leadership development.
  • Instruct, monitor, counsel, and assist student-athletes to ensure they meet satisfactory academic progress and eligibility requirements.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to support the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes within the program.
  • Foster a positive and productive team environment.
  • Recruit student-athletes capable of graduating from the institution.
  • Schedule opponents to achieve a balanced mix of home and away, conference and non-conference, and regional games.
  • Monitor the academic success of student-athletes.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and adhere to, all University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Support the philosophy, goals, and mission of the University and its intercollegiate athletics program through compliance with NCAA Division II, SSC, and Saint Leo University policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of coaching tactics and techniques.

Skills:

  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills.

Abilities:

  • Ability to recruit student athletes.
  • Ability to motivate student-athletes.
  • Ability to prioritize practice plans, recruiting and game management.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer programs.
