CBC N.L. is looking for a senior producer of digital content to lead a team of online journalists and program news and information on several platforms. This position is based in St. John’s. The successful candidate will actively participate in the news agenda and ensure the quick and accurate delivery of breaking news to CBC’s digital platforms.
You will lead intentional audience growth strategies to increase reach, retention and engagement of digital audiences.
You have an in-depth understanding of CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and are responsible for ensuring your team functions within these guidelines. You can make quick decisions when required but you’re also a creative thinker with a track record of finding solutions to complex problems.
You provide direction that anticipates the needs of the audience. Your understanding of the region’s cultural communities informs your journalistic decision making. You are a keen observer, focused on reaching new and younger audiences and people in underserved communities.
You thrive on change and are able to motivate people and get them excited to work in a rapidly evolving news environment. You have your finger on the pulse of changing audience consumption trends and want to meet audiences where they are to serve their needs. You are excited by experimentation. You are invested in the development of new formats and programming that’s relevant to the needs of people in the province.
You lead by example and are committed to an inclusive and respectful workplace culture. You can make quick decisions when required but you’re an open-minded leader who encourages healthy debate and creative thinking. You will play a key leadership role in ensuring continuous development opportunities within a rapidly changing and competitive media environment.
