CBC N.L. is looking to fill two Associate Producer roles – one position is assigned to the St. John’s Morning Show and another will work with the afternoon drive show, On the Go. Both roles are based out of St. John’s.
The Associate Producer assigned to radio current affairs will perform editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for all of our media platforms and especially for radio programming. You will participate in the production, direction and/or post-production of a program and/or program segment.
You should be comfortable with the demands and needs of radio, video, on-line news and live broadcast. Applicants need to be proficient at managing multiple assignments and covering breaking news situations. You should be comfortable chasing and developing enterprise journalism and original research. You should be able to generate story ideas independently. Guidance and direction are regularly available from one or more producers, but there is latitude for initiative and judgment. You work well in a team environment.
In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. You’re innovative and will champion new story treatments. You’re not afraid to take creative risks, and you inspire others to do the same.
Local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You understand the diverse and changing population across the province and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content. Applicants with a natural curiosity who love to tell stories with compelling characters, rich audio and great writing are encouraged to apply.
You live and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture. You have a strong understanding of and/or Indigenous and other equity-deserving communities across the province.
