Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision
    • Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff.
    • Coordinate daily staff assignments and ensure optimal workflow in the hospital.
    • Provide training and guidance on clinical procedures, safety, and best practices.
  • Patient Care
    • Perform advanced technical duties including anesthesia induction, surgical assistance, radiology, laboratory work, and dental procedures.
    • Monitor and document patient progress, communicating effectively with veterinarians and clients.
    • Maintain high standards for patient care, cleanliness, and infection control.
  • Client Communication
    • Educate clients on post-surgical care, medication administration, and preventive health.
    • Address client questions and concerns professionally and empathetically.
  • Operations & Inventory
    • Manage ordering, stocking, and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.
    • Assist in creating and updating hospital protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Support compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, DEA, AAHA, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Education: Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT/CVT) required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of veterinary technician experience, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or senior technician role.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in anesthesia, surgical assistance, and emergency procedures.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to train and motivate team members effectively.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position; may include weekends or holidays as needed.
  • Fast-paced small-animal hospital or mixed-practice environment.
