Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff.
- Coordinate daily staff assignments and ensure optimal workflow in the hospital.
- Provide training and guidance on clinical procedures, safety, and best practices.
- Patient Care
- Perform advanced technical duties including anesthesia induction, surgical assistance, radiology, laboratory work, and dental procedures.
- Monitor and document patient progress, communicating effectively with veterinarians and clients.
- Maintain high standards for patient care, cleanliness, and infection control.
- Client Communication
- Educate clients on post-surgical care, medication administration, and preventive health.
- Address client questions and concerns professionally and empathetically.
- Operations & Inventory
- Manage ordering, stocking, and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.
- Assist in creating and updating hospital protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, DEA, AAHA, etc.).
Qualifications
- Education: Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT/CVT) required.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of veterinary technician experience, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or senior technician role.
- Skills:
- Proficient in anesthesia, surgical assistance, and emergency procedures.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to train and motivate team members effectively.
Work Environment
- Full-time position; may include weekends or holidays as needed.
- Fast-paced small-animal hospital or mixed-practice environment.
