Position Summary

The SH&E Manager is responsible for managing the organization’s safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance, prevent workplace incidents, and promote a culture of safety across all EnviroServe service lines. This role leads safety initiatives, conducts inspections, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and employee well-being.

Essential Functions

  • Workplace Inspections:
  • Schedule and oversee inspections to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Incident Investigation:
  • Investigate workplace incidents, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, FRA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare and submit accident reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Operations, People, Compliance, and Emergency Response teams to align safety initiatives with strategic goals.
  • Safety Culture Promotion:
  • Champion a proactive safety culture through communication, leadership engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel to field sites and training locations as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field is preferred,
  • 3+ years working experience in industry
  • SH&E certification preferred (CSHO, OHST, ASP, GSP, CSP, etc.)
  • HAZWOPER 40 hour, OSHA General Industry
  • Maintains a current knowledge of rules, regulations, and compliance issues affecting the operation (OSHA, EPA, DOT, FRA)
  • Has a full understanding of Confined Space Entry, Lock out Tag out (LOTO), Hot Work, and a working knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks while managing time effectively (able to plan, organize, and implement around priorities)
  • Understands or has been exposed to contractor safety programs, basic safety training for hazmat and chemicals, and customer safety policies
  • The ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, etc.
  • Willing to travel overnight (25% of the time)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SH&E training, preferably in environmental services, waste management, or industrial sectors.

Certifications (Preferred):

Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or equivalent.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and RCRA regulations. Familiarity with hazardous materials handling, remediation practices, and emergency response protocols.
