The Lean Coach -Director is charged with improving the lean thinking and execution capabilities of project teams – spanning front line to senior leadership levels. You will be building lean capabilities on projects with complex technical elements, large number of design and construction partners, and distributed execution across the globe. You will be expected to coach and mentor the development of the following competencies primarily:

  • Target Value Design/Set Based Concurrent Engineering/Set Based Design
  • Standard work in a Design/Engineering environment (Design Cells)
  • Leader Standard work, particularly as it relates to the work of Design Leads
  • Continuous Cost Modeling and Estimation
  • Visible and Reusable Knowledge, including the capabilities to develop Trade-off curves.
  • Visual Management using the Obeya System for design and engineering
  • Co-design/ development hackathons/Joint Design
  • Integrated Project Delivery (I2PD/IPD) implications for Design and Engineering
  • Workforce organization/Task force arrangement for incremental design
  • Last Planner System as it pertains to detailed design and engineering
  • Lean Supply Systems in Construction and their optimization
  • Choosing By Advantages
  • Use of Fabrication and Construction as Design Partners
  • Production Preparation Process within the Design and Engineering Phases
  • Organizing Design and Engineering by value streams

Further the Lean Coach/Director is expected to Contribute Knowledge and expertise in:

  • Shaping a Fluor wide strategy for Spread and scale of Lean
  • Accelerating the growth of Target Value Design capability within Fluor
  • Shaping the management systems and Metrics by which Lean Capacity is enhanced to more purposefully meet the Strategic Priorities of Fluor

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-four (24) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree in engineering
  • Experience ranging from 3 years upwards of intense application of Lean Methods (listed above) and Kaizen Activity within Design and Engineering. Demonstrated experience of no less than 6 element implemented per year.
  • Additionally, experience ranging from 8 years upwards of intense application of Lean Methods and Kaizen Activity in general with preferred application in Engineering,Procurement, Fabrication and Construction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Masters degree or global equivalent) in engineering discipline/technical field, or administration area preferred
  • Professional engineering registration preferred
  • Auditor certification by outside agency (e.g., Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB), American Society for Quality (ASQ), International Quality Associates (IQA), or local equivalent, etc.) preferred
  • Internal Lead Auditor certification required
  • Twenty (20) years of related quality/project experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $302,000.00
