QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in general accounting including: preparation of financial statements, audits, governmental accounting, reconciliations, and general ledger processes.
- Experience with PowerSchool eFinancePlus and Cognos Reporting software preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide.
- Demonstrated knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, and implement procedures.
- Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize projects, and adhere to deadlines.
- Self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days
SALARY:
$97,132 (BA-7)
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides direction and supervision for Accountant II positions, Accounting Specialist, and Accounts Receivable Specialist.
- Prepares and reviews accounting transactions, financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and policies.
- Provides guidance and support to campuses and departments on District financial policies and procedures.
- Oversees the District’s procurement and travel card programs, ensuring effective administration and compliance with established policies.
- Serves as a backup to the Treasurer.
- Assists with the establishment, revision, and implementation of financial procedures, processes, and resources.
- Assists with month-end close, year-end close, and the annual financial audit processes and procedures.
- Assists with preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in accounting standards, as well as state and federal laws and practices related to school finance, through ongoing professional development, including reading industry publications and attending relevant meetings and workshops.
- Provides backup support for various roles within the Business and Financial Services department as needed.
- Provides for the evaluation and development of staff under his/her supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Services.
