The Lead Naval Programme ILS Engineer will be responsible for leading and performing a wide range of ILS activities throughout the full lifecycle of a major UK project. You will have the opportunity to work from project concept through to design, manufacture, commissioning and into service.

Ready for a new, exciting career opportunity, you will report directly to the Naval Engineering Leader, collaborating with a diverse engineering and business community.
Working in a class-leading, multi-disciplinary team of engineers you will bring your extensive expertise in Integrated Logistics Support and In-Service Support of military equipment, ideally with knowledge of relevant military standards and regulatory requirements.
As part of this role, you will work in a dedicated, cross business team leading and producing Integrated Support Plans and deliverables, as well as supporting and conducting ILS analysis, including FMEA/FMECA, Reliability (MTBF, etc.), RCM, LoRA, Spares, Obsolescence, DRACAS/FRACAS and Disposal. This will involve liaising with several world leading companies.
You will have responsibility for the following activities:
- Coordinating ILS aspects for a major naval programme across various organisations to ensure a consistency of approach.
- Capturing and analysis of ILS requirements.
- Where relevant utilise ILS tools to influence the design and support the development of the various user’s employment of ILS tools.
- Supporting project teams and our suppliers, by providing direction, guidance and mentoring, to produce our customer ILS deliverables, to include but not be limited to;
- ILS Plans
- Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M)
- FMEA and FMECA
- Maintenance Plans & Job Cards
- Logistic Information Management and Technical Data
- Recommended Spares and Special Tools and Test Equipment (ST&TE)
- Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation (PHS&T)
- Disposal Planning
- Obsolescence Management
- Supporting other ILS activities such as Training Needs Analysis development and the development of technical publications with their associated ILS deliverables.
- Working with the wider engineering team in support of Safety Hazard Identification and Safety and Risk Management.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum of a degree or equivalent qualification, or higher, for example Masters or PhD in a relevant field.
- Demonstrable ILS knowledge and experience within the UK Defence sector, ideally with the UK Royal Navy.
- Knowledge of standards for supportability and related specifications
- Experience of In-Service Support of Military equipment.
- Is a sole UK National and holds, or be eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level.
- Able to travel within base country and overseas for short-term working.
Desired characteristics
- Knowledge of military and/or defence standards.
- Experience of S1000D (Tech Docs) and S2000M (Material Management).
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered (or working to) or equivalent with a recognised institution, with a proven record of continuous professional development.
- Knowledge of classification rules, e.g. DNV, ABS, Lloyds for marine.
- Ability to multi-task to strict timescales, excellent communication skills, good report writing skills, and is well organised.
- Hold a UK Driving Licence
