WHO WE ARE
The Division of Parking Management manages the operations and maintenance of parking garages and lots within Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Wheaton central business districts. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
MCDOT seeks a Lead Revenue Counter to be a working leader whose duties involve counting and preparing deposit funds (currency and coins) collected from parking operations and transit services. This is a team player able to follow standardized procedures and guide staff in the course of daily, repetitive tasks maintaining work production and meeting deadlines. The Lead Revenue Counter will be able to accurately log and document work performed and be capable of resolving discrepancies. Successful candidates will be capable of functioning as the supervisor when the supervisor is absent; overseeing the work of employees without instruction and direct supervision; and assisting in evaluating new equipment and procedures. Work is conducted in a secure facility in the presence of alarm and surveillance equipment.
Employee is responsible for receiving, weighing, counting and preparing for deposit funds collected from parking meters and mass transit use. This position requires the employee to have the ability to frequently lift, carry and otherwise move cans and bags that weigh up to, and occasionally over, 50 pounds; ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a noisy environment; and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time work experience in cash handling, revenue collection, or financial processing in a secure or controlled environment.
Related experience may include:
Education: Ability to read and write in English and perform simple arithmetic computations.
Equivalency: None.
Physical Ability: Ability to frequently physically lift, carry and otherwise move cans, bags and other containers weighing 50 pounds or more.
LICENSE: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.

Leave Benefits
Our generous leave package starts with non-MLS permanent and term employees earning 15 days of sick leave and 15 days of annual leave in their first year, as well as up to three additional personal days each calendar year. Positions in MLS earn 35 days of paid time off each year. In addition, we offer all employees 10 paid holidays. Retirement Benefits
All permanent and term positions are eligible for robust retirement plans. Public safety positions are eligible for a defined benefit pension plan in which they are vested after only five years. Employees in non-public safety positions can participate in retirement plans that contribute up to 12 percent of their annual salary. All employees can also participate in a supplemental retirement plan, the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, to contribute even more to their retirement goals.
