Overview:

We are seeking a solution to strengthen testing across the client’s P&C insurance ecosystem, which includes policy administration, claims processing, underwriting systems, and customer engagement platforms.

  • The Test Manager will be responsible for engaging with client stakeholders, identifying testing needs through strategic discussions, and enabling collaborative support from both offshore and onshore teams.
  • A critical aspect of this role is to identify areas for testing transformation, lead discussions with customer stakeholders, and define and drive a roadmap to implement transformation initiatives and elevate testing maturity across the program.
  • Key responsibilities include identifying risks and challenges, designing comprehensive and scalable test strategies, and developing reusable implementation plans that align with business goals, regulatory requirements, and modernization objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic Test Leadership

  • Lead the testing strategy and execution for customer’s critical applications, including policy administration, claims processing, underwriting systems, and customer engagement platforms.

Testing Transformation & Maturity

  • Identify high-impact areas for testing transformation, such as test environment and data management, automation, and governance.
  • Lead stakeholder discussions to align transformation goals with business priorities.
  • Define and execute a roadmap to implement transformation initiatives, leveraging industry best practices and internal maturity assessments.
  • Drive testing maturity through phased improvements in automation, process standardization, and AI-led quality engineering.

Innovation & Automation

  • Drive test automation initiatives to improve efficiency, coverage, and speed.
  • Champion the adoption of GenAI in the testing lifecycle for intelligent test case generation, defect prediction, and reporting.

Global Team Coordination

  • Interface with offshore and onshore teams, ensuring alignment with Japan-specific business and regulatory needs.
  • Facilitate seamless collaboration across geographies to support testing activities and knowledge sharing.

Governance & Communication

  • Manage stakeholder communications, ensuring transparency and timely updates on test progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Oversee governance functions, including test planning, reporting, and compliance tracking.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure SLA adherence across all testing deliverables and environments.
  • Implement proactive problem management to address recurring issues and improve system stability.

People Management

  • Lead and mentor the testing team, managing attendance, performance evaluations, and career development.
  • Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Skills and experience :

  • 12+ years in QA/testing roles, with at least 5 years in Japan
  • Experience working with global or Japan based insurers
  • Proven experience in leading end-to-end testing for complex insurance applications—policy, claims, underwriting, CRM.
  • Strong expertise in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, UFT, Tosca) and familiarity with GenAI tools for intelligent test case generation and defect analysis.
  • Excellent communication and governance skills to manage client expectations, reporting, and escalations.
  • Ability to proactively identify risks, manage SLAs, and implement problem resolution strategies.
  • Experience working with global teams, especially coordinating between offshore and Japan-based teams.
  • Native-level Japanese for stakeholder communication and documentation
  • JLPT N1/N2 certification preferred
  • Experience in Japanese business etiquette and client interfacing
